I received a panic filled text from my sister last week asking me what she could pack in her hand luggage. Her main concern was her hair straighteners, she wanted to take them with her on the plane. Now, I use hair straighteners, but I'm not so attached to them that I have to have them with my while travelling.
After convincing her that they would be OK in her suitcase, she then went on to panic about how much her case would weigh. After realising it was a pound or two over the weight it should be, she asked me if it would be OK to put T-shirts and strappy tops into her hand luggage. After convincing her that this would make very little difference to the weight of her case, I asked her where her camera was. "in my suitcase." she replied.
I was about ready to give up!
It took us a full two hours, a bar of chocolate and bottle of wine to get the girl packed properly and ready to fly. I think it was mostly just nerves as she had never been on holiday without the family before.
She's back now, and when I looked into her hand luggage there was only the essentials in there. Good girl, I taught her well.
I love packing. Is that odd? I think it must be odd.

Dear Auburn♥Luv
That isn’t odd at all. Me too, I like packing, that’s just part of travelling pleasure.
Even if I most probably will not use them in the airplane, I have in my hand luggage: another pair of pantyhose and some of my preferred woman toys. Is this odd? I leave the answer up to you ;)
Tenderly yours,
Nadia
Yes that is an odd thing to pack, and yes that was a little bit too much information
Dearest Auburn♥Luv
If what I wrote you, seems you “a little bit to much information”, you simply didn’t have to publish it. But maybe this related fact will make you smile: It happened at JFK airport. Leaving the US the custom control is even more severe than at the entry. Like the other passengers I had to let check the content of my hand luggage. I got a nice compensation: a nice black woman officer checked it, took a look, putted her hand in my Bag, and gave me a hot understanding complicit Glance. I feeled rejoiced and enjoyed my flight to Brussels!
Tenderly yours,
Nadia

I published it for the same reason I published your last comment, to ask you to please stop leaving those kinds of comments. They make me uncomfortable considering I don't know you.
Dear Auburn♥Luv,
Once again I have to apologize at you. How can I know your sensibilities? How can I know when I go “a bit to far”? You don’t know me, that’s quite right. Did you ever visit my Blog? You could also write me there. Like you want...Sorry, I don’t want to upset you, just the contrary, but it seems to be without success. If you dislike it at that point, I will let off, I don’t want to offense you or to impose what so ever. I hope we will reach to understand each other.
Peace and Joy,
Nadia

This is weird.
Now, can I make it known that the reason I wrote "this is weird" was because I was just about to tell you that I had written a similar post about hair straighteners in luggage with a similar title here:
http://sugarplumfairycake.blogspot.com/2009/06/everything-but-kitchen-sink.html
After I'd written that, however, I had a wee scan through the above comments, and now feel that the phrase is a more befitting description of that little debate!
So there you have it. Weird.
